Step:

  1. Melt the butter; add celery, onion; cook slowly to prevent burning.

  2. Combine the crumbs and seasoning; mix all together.

  3. Place in roasting pan; cover and bake in oven. (If stuffing the bird, pack lightly -- dressing swells as it cooks).

  4. If roasting in a pan and not stuffing a bird, dressing will shrink during baking process.

  5. NOTE: I usually triple this recipe.

Ingredients

  1. 4 cup soft bread crumbs or cubes
  2. 1/4 cup butter
  3. 1/2 cup celery, finely chopped
  4. 1/4 cup onion, finely chopped
  5. 1 tsp salt
  6. 1/8 tsp pepper
  7. 1 tsp poultry seasoning (or sage or savoury)
