Step:

  1. Sort and rinse beans a few times

  2. Cover with 3 or 4 inches of cold water

  3. Brown cut up sausage in a pan

  4. Add everything to the pot of soaking beans except butter

  5. Cook on low for three and a half hours or until done

  6. Add 1tbsp butter

Ingredients

  1. 1 lb butter beans
  2. 1 large onion
  3. 1 cup celery
  4. 3 large toes of garlic
  5. 1/4 tsp baking soda
  6. 1 lb pickled meat
  7. 1/2 lb smoked sausage
  8. to taste Salt
  9. to taste Pepper
  10. 1 tsp parsley
  11. 1 tbsp butter
