Step:

  1. Combine 1 tsp salt, 1/2 tsp pepper, and 1/4 cup flour and coat beef with mixture.

  2. Saute beef in oil until browned (no need to cook all the way through) once browned set aside.

  3. In pan that browned meat cook celery, onion, tomato paste, garlic.

  4. Turn off saute setting, add 3 1/2 cups beef broth or water and 2 tsp Worcestershire sauce

  5. Add browned meat back into instant pot, along with carrots and potatoes and bay leaves. combine well

  6. Close lid, close vent, set to pressure cook on high for 35 minutes then let naturally release for 10 minutes then quick release

  7. Remove lid and set to saute

  8. Make corn starch slurry out of 1.5 Tbsp corn starch and 1.5 Tbsp cold water combine well then add into simmering beef stew

  9. Stir well to thicken, turn off heat and serve


Ingredients

  1. 2 LBs beef stew meet
  2. 1/4 cup all purpose flour
  3. 1 tsp salt
  4. 1/2 tsp black pepper
  5. 1/4 cup cooking oil
  6. 1 medium celery stick
  7. 1 large onion
  8. 3 cloves fresh garlic
  9. 1 Tbsp tomato paste
  10. 3 1/2 cup cups water (or beef broth)
  11. 2 1/2 Tbsp beef bouillon
  12. 2 tsp Worcestershire sauce
  13. 1 lb potatoes (cut into large chunks)
  14. 2 large carrots
  15. 2 dried bay leaves
  16. 1 1/2 Tbsp corn starch
  17. 1 1/2 Tbsp cold water
