Step:

  1. Preheat the oven to 180°C.

  2. Mix the flour with the cinnamon, the clove and the baking powder.

  3. Add oil and mix with a fork.

  4. Add the sugar, the water, the walnuts, the baking soda dissolved in the brandy, the lemon zest and mix to incorporate.

  5. Brush a baking tray (about 32 cm diameter) with oil, add the batter and bake at 180°C for about an hour.

  6. Set it aside to cool.

  7. Prepare the syrupboil the water and the sugar with the cinnamon stick for 5-7 minutes and then pour the hot syrup over the karidopita.

  8. Melt the chololate with the margarine either in a bain-marie or the microwave and pour the glaze over the karidopita.

  3. 2 cups walnuts
  4. 4 cups all purpose flour
  5. 2 cups water
  6. 1/2 cup brandy
  7. 1/2 tsp cinnamon powder
  8. 1/2 tsp clove powder
  9. lemon zest
  10. 3 tsp baking powder
  11. 1 tsp baking soda
  12. For the syrup
  13. 200 g sugar
  14. 200 ml water
  15. 1 cinnamon stick
  16. For the chocolate glaze
  17. 250 g couverture chocolate
  18. 30 g margarine
