Step:
Wash the mung beans several times till the water looks clean. Put about 3-4 cups fresh water in the pot with beans. Heat up till the water gets warm. Ensure not to heat up the water or else the beans will get cooked and not sprout.
Cover the pot and keep it aside overnight. Next morning you'll see that all the beans have absorbed water well and they are puffed. Place a cloth in a colander and drain out water while catching the beans in the cloth.
Wrap up the beans with the same cloth and place the cloth back in the pot. Cover the pit and keep it aside for atleast 24-30 hours. The sprouts come out really long and healthy.
The 1st pic below is taken after 13 hours...and the second one was taken after 26 hours.
Note:1. if you soak beans in the water at room temperature, they will take very long to absorb water and some may not even absorb it. Those are the beans that will not sprout. So soaking in warm water is highly recommended.
2. Sprouts take minimum 24 hours to grow. You can keep them for a few more hours for better growth. But keeping them way too longer will burn the sprouts and will also grow some unhealthy bacteria leaving them stinky and sticky. So keep an eye on them.
3. Use them fresh or refrigerate them until the time of use. You can't store them longer than a week. These moth sprouts are 1 week old.
