Step:

  1. Mix flour, soda, and salt; set aside.

  2. In large mixing bowl: beat butter and shortening on medium speed for 30 sec.; add sugars and beat until fluffy; add eggs and vanilla and beat well.

  3. Add dry ingredients to beaten mixture; beat until well mixed.

  4. Stir in chocolate chips and nuts.

  5. Drop mixture by teaspoonful, 2 inches apart onto ungreased cookie sheet.

  6. Bake in preheated oven at 375°F. for 8-10 min. or until golden brown.

  7. Remove from cookie sheet; cool on rack.

  2. 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  3. 1 tsp baking soda
  4. 2 eggs
  5. 1/2 tsp salt
  6. 1 1/2 tsp vanilla
  7. 1/2 cup butter or margarine
  8. 1 1/2 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
  9. 1/2 cup shortening
  10. 1 cup brown sugar, packed
  11. 1 cup nuts, chopped
