Step:

  1. Using a pastry cutter, cut in the shortening to the Quick Mix, until mixture resembles coarse crumbs.

  2. Add the milk and knead your biscuit dough lightly a few times, adding a pinch of flour if needed to keep dough from sticking to your hands.

  3. Roll out on a floured surface and cut into shapes.

  4. Bake at 450°F for 10-12 minutes.

  5. Depending on the size of your biscuit cutter, this makes approximately 4-6 biscuits per recipe using 1 cup of mix -- double, triple, as needed.

  6. To turn this recipe into freezer biscuits -- prepare the biscuit dough, cut them out, then freeze them on pans. After they're frozen, place two biscuits per sandwich baggie and then place multiple baggies inside a large freezer baggie. Now you can take out 1 or more baggies of 2 biscuits in the morning, place the frozen biscuits on a small greased cookie sheet to thaw for an hour. Then bake the biscuits and fry up an egg per biscuit. Hot breakfast -- and fast!

  7. GARLIC-CHEESE BISCUITS: Based on the 1-cup mix recipe above, add 3/4 cup grated cheese of your choice and one pressed garlic clove, or even two, or use a tsp of garlic power

  8. GARDEN BISCUITS: add 3/4 cup finely chopped veggies of your choice.

  9. HERB BISCUITS: add 1/4 cup fresh herbs or a tbsp dried herbs.

  10. PEPPER BISCUITS: (Hot or Mild) - add 3/4 c chopped jalapenos or other peppers.

  11. BACON or SAUSAGE BISCUITS: add 3/4 cup cooked, crumbled bacon or sausage - make bacon or sausage cheese biscuits! Cut the bacon/sausage to 1/2 cup and add 1/2 cup cheese.

  12. SWEET BISCUITS: add 3 tbsp sugar and 3/4 cup fruit or berries to make sweet biscuits.
