Step:

  1. Prepare grill or campfire for low heat, using 16 to 20 charcoal briquettes or large wood chips.

  2. Line a Dutch oven with heavy-duty aluminum foil.

  3. Add pie filling.

  4. In a large bowl, combine the cake mix, water and oil.

  5. Spread over pie filling.

  6. Cover Dutch oven.

  7. When briquettes or wood chips are covered with white ash, place Dutch oven directly on top of 8 to 10 of them.

  8. Using a long handled tongs, place remaining briquettes on pan cover.

  9. Cook for 30 to 40 minutes or until filling is bubbly and a toothpick inserted into the topping comes out clean.

  10. To check for doneness, use the tongs to carefully lift the cover.

  11. Serve with ice cream if desired.

  12. *Please note that this recipe doesn't use eggs.*

  3. 1 packages (18 1/4 ounces) yellow cake mix
  4. 2 can (21 ounces each) raspberry pie filling
  5. 1 vanilla ice cream, optional
