Step:

  1. place bread in a 11/2 quart baking dish. Scald the milk with the butter and cool. Add sugar, eggs, salt, cinnamon, nutmeg and raisins and mix well.

  2. pour the egg mixture evenly over the bread. place the baking dish in oven, bake at 350' for 40 to 45 minutes or until a silver knife inserted 1 inch from the edge comes out clean ;don't overbake.Yield serves 6 to 8.

  1. 4 cup small chunks of white bread
  2. 2 cup milk
  3. 1/4 cup butter
  4. 1/2 cup sugar
  5. 2 eggs slightly beaten
  6. 1/2 tsp salt
  7. 1/2 tsp cinnamon
  8. 1/2 tsp nutmeg
  9. 1 cup raisins(seedless) optional
