Step:
Take in a large bowl 1 cup of chana dal. Wash the chana dal 2-3 times or until water runs clear. soak chana dal for 2 hours.
Drain off the water and keep aside. Make sure there is no water in the dal. transfer the soaked & drained chana dal into mixi also add garlic, ginger and green chilli.
Blend to a coarse paste if necessary add little water.
Now transfer the chana dal paste to a large mixing bowl. further add spring onion,onion, cumin seeds, Asafoetida, red chilli powder, fennel, gram flour and salt and combine them well.mix the batter very well.
Heat oil in a pan or kadai to fry the pakoda. Take a small portion of the batter either with hands or with a spoon and put it into the pan. Put 5-6 as many pakoda as you can at one time.cooked, turn over with a slotted spoon and continue to fry.
Deep fry on a medium flame.fry till they become crisp and golden brown.
Drain out on paper towel for excess oil to be absorbed. Fry all the pakodas in the same manner.
Garnish with some spring onion and Serve immediately with green chutney and tomato sauce.
