Step:

  1. Cream the sugar, shortening, molasses, and egg.

  2. Sift the dry ingredients and beat in with the milk.

  3. Drop by tablespoonful onto greased cookie sheet.

  4. Bake at 350 for about 9 minutes. The tops will begin to crack open. Cool and enjoy.

  3. 1/2 cup molasses
  4. 1 egg
  5. 3 1/2 cups flour
  6. 1 tsp salt
  7. 2 1/2 tsp baking soda
  8. 1 tsp cinnamon
  9. 1 tsp mace
  10. 1/4 cup milk
