Step:

  1. Preheat oven to 350F

  2. Mix sugar and shortening

  3. Add egg and vanilla, beat well

  4. Add in dry ingredients alternatively with milk

  5. Spread in greased 9in by 9in pan

  6. Bake for 20-25 minutes

  7. Sprinkle enough granulated sugar over the strawberries to lightly coat each one, and let sit for 15-20 minutes, stirring periodically.

  8. Mix whipping cream, powdered sugar, and vanilla in small mixing bowl. Whip until it reaches whip cream consistency, 3-4 minutes.

  9. Cut shortcake into 9 pieces, scoop strawberries on top, and plop whipped cream on top. Enjoy!

  2. 1/4 cup shortening
  3. 1 large egg, room temperature
  4. 1 tsp vanilla extract
  5. 1/4 tsp salt
  6. 1 1/2 cups flour
  7. 2 tsp baking powder
  8. 1/2 cup whole milk
  9. 1 quart strawberries
  10. Whipped cream
  11. 1 cup whipping cream
  12. 1 tbsp powdered sugar
  13. 1 tsp vanilla extract
